How to Enjoy July on a Budget
June is coming to an end and there are so many things to do in July! It’s fireworks season! Here is a fun-filled list to help you plan your July:
- There are thousands of Independence Day celebrations all across this beautiful land so you’ll definitely find a fireworks display to watch with your loved ones. In the Denver area, you can start our your 4th of July fun on July 3, at Independence Eve at Civic Center Park. Food trucks and beer & wine gardens will be open at 4 p.m. Beginning at 8 p.m., there will be a concert, light show, and fireworks finale. Chris Daniels and The Kings and the 101st Army Band of the Colorado National Guard will performing the concert. If you’re looking for a slightly smaller celebration, you may want to check out the 4th of July Festival & Fireworks at Cornerstone Park & Belleview Park in Englewood, or the Stars and Stripes Celebration at Salisbury Park in Parker, CO.
- As we age, physical activity may become more strenuous, but it’s still important to keep moving. Simply walking every day can improve your health. The Walk with a Doc events through National Jewish Health, is a great way to get in your daily dose of exercise with peers and learn about health topics each month. There are two locations participating in this months Walk with a Doc on July 14th, at 8 a.m. One of the walks will start in Bible Park in Denver and discuss Women & Heart Disease. Another walk will begin in Harlow Platts Park in Boulder and discuss Walking and Stroke Risk.
- Slow Food Nations is a free outdoor festival with food, culture, workshops, and family fun! The festival will be on Larimar Square, July 13-15. You can learn about the food you eat, how to make healthy choices, and purchase some delicious treats. Let your mind and your taste buds explore what Denver food community has to offer.
- If you enjoy art, you’ll love Artsweek Golden, a week-long celebration of the arts. The celebration is produced by Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO, and runs from July 16 through July 22. You will not only have the chance to see beautiful art, but also participate in demonstrations, see performances, and meet artists. Events will take place the whole week at different locations throughout Golden.
